ETCHINGS GLOUCESTER HARBOR
I was inspired after seeing so many men lost at sea and named on the Gloucester Fishermen’s Memorial.
The models were my son Joseph, Daughter Rachel, my wife Winona, and my Father, John C. Sullivan.

Nets, Gloucester, Cornelius Sullivan, etching and mono print, 9 x 12″, 2016.

Inammorata Elettrica di Firenze, Drypoint Etching, 6 x 9″, 2016. Unique print, there are four more with slightly different backgrounds.

Gloucester Harbor 2, etching, aquatint, and mono print, 7 1/2 x 10″, 1971, 2016.

Joe Garland, Gloucester Historian, suggested that I make an etching of Howard Blackburn. I used the photograph in his book Lone Voyager. The photograph of Blackburn was taken by Leonard Craske the Sculptor of The Man at the Wheel on the Fishermen’s Memorial, on the Harbor at Stacy Boulevard.
The Museum did not ask me about the Copyright for this image. They probably thought that I was from ma former generation and no longer available.
